For this week ahead we have practice on Tuesday and Wednesday and then a break from organized training until the following Wednesday. You probably already guessed this but the race scheduled for Bogus on Wednesday 12/21 has been canceled. A few quick notes on the week:

1. Next Weeks Schedule- Practice Tuesday and Thursday next week will be the same as this past week and we will take off for Sun Valley on Friday. As with last week be sure to bring helmets, poles and skis if you have them on Tuesday as team supplies will be stretched thin. On Thursday please bring court shoes although if the weather is good we will likely stay outside one again.
2. Christmas Classic Trip Next Weekend- I have put together a schedule for the trip, packing list and final costs. I do apologize, the costs ended up being a little higher than my initial predictions but we plan on covering all expenses once you hop in the van on Friday at 1PM.
3. Tentative Winter Break schedule- I put down a rough draft of the winter break schedule to help you out with planning purposes for the time off of school. We will continue to put together weekly schedules that have the specifics with times and locations. Given the uncertain snow conditions there may be more drastic changes to it as we go along.
After next weekend we do have a couple of events/races that will affect our schedule but we won’t have any more out of town trips until February. A couple of dates for your long range calendar:
February 17-19th Western States Youth Ski Festival in Bozeman
March 17-18th Tentative Overnight Yurt Trip
As a final reminder parents are encouraged to attend the parents meeting this Tuesday (12/13) night at 8PM at the Bogus Basin Offices.

Hello Comp-Devo Families,
Attached you will find next weeks schedule but there are a lot of notes to go with it so read carefully:
If you are in need of any inspiration during this snow-less December you might be excited to know that the US nordic, biathlon and ski jumping teams have had a very impressive week on their respective World Cup circuits. The highlight was probably Kikkan Randall’s world cup victory in the Duseldorff sprint yesterday. Potentially more exciting than the win was that she was established as the favorite going into the race. It has probably been 30 years since an American was the favorite in a cross country world cup and maybe the first time ever for an American woman. You can see a short video of the final heat here by clicking on the “Randall Shines Again” link: http://www.fiscrosscountry.com/multimedia/race-video.html
Mother nature didn’t exactly cooperate with our plans to be skiing this week so it looks like we have at least another week of dryland training ahead of us. I scoped out Bogus today and while it might be skiable in places, its clear they don’t want people out there so we will have to wait for more snow. I appreciate your patience/flexibility while we wait for winter to fully arrive.
We will continue on our Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday-
Also Jackets and Suits arrived so they will be available for pick up on Tuesday if you have paid in full.
Finally two Dates for your long range calendar
No attachments this time around so please read carefully below for next weeks schedule. As a reminder we are switching to our “Normal Winter Schedule” this week which is Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday-
Luke Studebaker and Eric Reynolds will be in charge of Comp-Devo practice this week (as I’m out of town) and through at least January. They would be good guys to get to know and to put there numbers in your contacts right now so you can get in touch with them when you need to. Luke’s number is 208-340-9535 and Eric’s is 208-841-5976
Tuesday- 3:45 Camelsback Park: Active Warm Up, ~5×2-3min Running Intervals and a game
Thursday- No practice for Thanksgiving
Saturday- 8:30 Bogus Basin Offices: Meet at BBO either way but be prepared to hop in the vans to skate ski at Bogus if possible or drive up and Run/Hike upper Hulls Gulch trail. Expect to return to BBO around 11:30
Sunday- 11:00 Fort Boise (Parking Lot closest to Military Reserve) Last mountain bike practice of the season in the foothills.
A number of you are headed to snow for most or part of this week (which is exciting!). A few quick recommendation
Finally the last thing I wanted to let you know about was that we are having a “BBNT Trial Period” the first two weeks in December if you have any other friends who might want to try it out, most likely they won’t be just “trying” comp-devo but they may be interested in the Rec Team (Mostly athletes in middle school) which will be going up to Bogus at the same time as us on Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday. If you do know anyone interested in the Trial Period have them get in touch with me so we can get them set up with the necessary paperwork for that.
Thanks
Nick Crawford/Luke Studebaker/Eric Reynolds

Saturday (11/19) Afternoon- I will be putting on a “coaches clinic” at my house, 3322 Crane Creek Rd (right off of Bogus Basin Rd) from noon-2 or 3PM. I hope to have our entire coaching staff for the winter there along with any interested volunteer coaches, parents or community members. If you are interested in joining please just give me a few days notice so I have a rough sense of how many people to expect. It will be about 1/3rd administrative (van driving, schedules, contact info…) 1/3rd general coaching strategies (how to set up a practice, drills, curriculum planning) and 1/3rd technique outside with some rollerski demos.
If you are interested in lending a hand coaching with the team this winter but can’t attend this clinic, please let me know as well. I’m putting together a list of people who want to help out our coaching staff as needed and available.

On Friday we will have practice at Fort Boise instead of Camelsback like most Friday’s this fall. At Fort Boise we meet over by the softball field in the parking lot closest to Military Reserve. Practice will finish up around 5:00 and if you are interested you can then do the ski erg (double pole simulator kind of like a rowing erg) sprints put on by Idaho Nordic at the Fort Boise community center from 5-6PM. The sprints should take 5-8 minutes and I’m not exactly sure how challenging they will be for those in 6th and 7th grade but they would for sure be good for those in 8th or 9th grade. Please let me know on Tuesday if you would like to do them so we can add you to Idaho Nordic’s schedule. Finally please bring the $5 entry fee with you on Friday.
I am taking a few days of vacation this week so Mikey will be the contact person for practice on Friday and Saturday.
