Western States Youth Ski Festival, Sun Valley, ID  February 28-March 1, 2009

Races will be held at Lake Creek Cross Country Ski Trails (3 miles north of Ketchum on Highway 75)

Schedule

Departure, Friday February 27 (practice day):  

LOAD Vans BBO – 11:45am

DEPART BBO – 12:00pm

3:00pm Planned arrival at Lake Creek

Inspect Courses (we will be skating; have all skate gear in the van, skis scraped, dressed ready to ski)

4:30pm Pick-up at Lake Creek for kids staying with their families

Saturday, February 28

**Arrival time at Lake Creek Parking Lot 8:00am, arrival time at race course 8:15am**

9:00am Skate Races (J6/J5 – 1km; J4 – 2km; J3 – 3km)

11:00am – 2:00pm Flying Downhill (separate courses for J3/4 and J5/6) and Obstacle Course (all ages)

6:00pm Banquet – Location TBA

Sunday, March 1

**Arrival time at Lake Creek Parking Lot 7:45am, arrival time at race course 8:00am**

9:00am Classic Races (J6/J5 – 1km; J4 – 2km; J3 – 3km)

11:00am BBQ and final awards (@ Lake Creek)

Trip Costs

Entry Fees:  $45 per skier.  Includes all races, dinner at banquet on Saturday night, BBQ on Sunday

Coach Expense: $12 per skier

TOTAL:  $57 per skier

Additional Notes

Parking: Parking at Lake Creek is limited to team vans only.  There will be a shuttle running to/from an extra parking lot ½ mile south of Lake Creek which will be clearly marked.  It is recommended you drop your kids off at the Lake Creek parking lot at the indicated arrival time to meet up with the team, then park your car in the appropriate lot and ride the shuttle back to Lake Creek.  From the Lake Creek parking lot it is a 10+ min hike/ski to the race site so be sure to allow enough time to make it back before the races start.

Clothing: There is no shelter at the race site, and weather can be highly variable.  It is recommended you bring a variety of clothing for yourself and your kids.

Saturday Lunch: It is highly recommended you pack a lunch and snacks for your kids and yourself, as this is a long day out at the race site. 

Saturday Night Awards Banquet and Dinner, Location TBA:  Cost is $12/person for parents and other non-racers, please include in your payment to BBNT along with your kid(s) trip costs.  Jessica will distribute tickets on Saturday.  (Banquet cost included in entry fee for racers)

Sunday BBQ, At Lake Creek: Cost is $5 for parents to participate, as far as I know can be paid on Sunday.
